Slide projectors Slide projectors are normally sold as a basic "body", that is, the slide projector which has a lamp inside and a mains lead. Extras are the lens and slide tray. It works like this because slide trays and lenses are in general compatible across all models. So should your old slide projector need replacing, you can just buy a "body only", because you can normally use your old lens and slide tray. By contrast, if a teaching hospital wants a slide projector installed in a new lecture theatre, you'd buy the kit, which comprises: slide projector "body", lens, slide tray and either a cable or infrared remote control. Ideal for photographic clubs, medical applications and as advert projectors for cinemas. For many applications, slide projectors have been replaced by computers connected to data projectors, commonly known as multimedia projectors. The price of these two technologies is now very similar with many users now opting for data projectors because pictures, video and interactive presentations offer greater flexibility.
